Jonathan Kamanns, newly appointed North American lead of the Fleet & Mobility Managers Club (FMMC), joins Daniel Bland to discuss how fleet and mobility leadership is evolving.

Drawing from his experience in data‑driven strategy, cross‑functional collaboration, and large‑scale program development, Jonathan emphasizes that his career was shaped less by single projects and more by career pivots that exposed him to diverse organizational structures. He highlights the growing challenge of fragmented data, noting that organizations struggle to connect disparate systems into actionable workflows.

As he states, “that data doesn't sit in a centralized system somewhere” and leaders must learn to turn information into decisions rather than endless exception reports. Jonathan also explains how influence without authority is essential in fleet, since teams are small but deeply interconnected with HR, legal, EHS, operations, and suppliers. Building trust and giving credit back to partners is central to his leadership style. As FMMC chapter lead, he aims to help members avoid “chasing the pendulum” and instead adopt proactive, thoughtful strategies.

Outside of work, Jonathan recharges through nature, motorcycling, gardening, and spending time with his family, noting humorously that even when relaxing, “I think about fleet.”
