Fleet Mobility Today (FMT) has held its Fleet and Mobility Managers Club (FMMC) meeting for the Latin America region, this time addressing the challenges of transitioning to electric vehicles (EV).
Attending the 90-minute meeting were fleet and facilities experts who manage operations in countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Chile, and Ecuador.
Participants discussed challenges such as the lack of fiscal incentives in Latin America, the high cost of EVs, the need to standardize charging infrastructure, and dealing with the entry of new vehicle suppliers. Several OEM brands were brought up during the talks.
Without going into detail, attendees suggested actions such as carrying out in-house EV charging at office depots and focusing more on hybrid vehicles for now.
Moving forward, FMMC will be looking to collaborate with academics, regulators, and legislators, as well as the private sector to find solutions for these and other challenges in the industry.
With a goal to advance fleet and mobility operations throughout the Americas, FMMC Latin America works in collaboration with the Brazil and North America groups. Next up is the FMMC North America meeting scheduled for August 13.
See some of you there. All others, stay tuned and we'll keep you posted...
