The North America, Latin America, and Brazil chapters of the Fleet and Mobility Managers Club (FMMC) recently held regional meetings to address shared challenges in the fast‑changing fleet landscape.
In North America, Jonathan Kammans led a discussion on the evolving expectations of fleet management companies (FMCs). Participants recognized the value FMCs bring but highlighted growing limitations in adapting to new technologies, integrating data, and providing proactive solutions. Rising fuel and maintenance costs, technician shortages, and parts inflation were major concerns, prompting interest in direct supplier engagement and alternative operating models.
In Latin America, Anna Pamela Mata focused on intelligent driving and advanced technologies, presenting three pillars: advanced telematics, ADAS, and digital twins. She shared implementation experiences with companies like CEMEX and Heineken in Mexico. Challenges included driver resistance, the need for alignment with HR and safety teams, and the importance of incentivizing positive behavior. Electrification benefits—especially in Chile—were also discussed.
In Brazil, Ivan Frota Pacheco led a conversation on the impact of the global energy crisis. Participants examined fuel price disparities, budget pressures, negotiations with leasing and fuel providers, and the agricultural sector’s role in energy transitions. Electrification and ethanol emerged as promising alternatives.
Collectively, the chapters oversee 304,000 vehicles across nine countries.
