Considering both consumer Satisfaction and Reliability reports, the highest-ranking automobile brand according  to  US-based thinktank Consumer Reports is Lexus , the premium vehicle division of Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corporation.

While Satisfaction is represented as the share of owners who would buy another car from the same brand, Reliability is based on proprietary survey data.

Coming in second is another Japanese nameplate Subaru Corporation , and it is trailed by BMW Group , Toyota, and Honda, according to Fleet Mobility Today based on December 2024 consumer reports data.

On the opposite side of the spectrum is Jeep coming in at the lowest combined ranking, according to the reports, followed by Volkswagen, Cadillac, Nissan Motor Corporation, and Buick. Brands not listed include Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Infinity, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln, Lucid, Maserati, Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi, Polestar, Porsche, Ram, and several Chinese nameplates.

American brands are commonly ranked high with satisfaction, with Rivian, Tesla, and Chevrolet in the top five, but not so high when it comes to reliability.  As for reliability, all the top five are Japanese automakers and when calculating both factors, Japanese brands also dominate with the exception of BMW from Germany which is ranked third.

In the Americas

While Toyota is the best-selling brand in Argentina, Chile and Peru, it is the 2nd best-selling brand in the United States, Canada, and Colombia. Meanwhile, Volkswagen is the 2nd best-selling brand in Brazil and Argentina and Nissan is the best-selling brand in Mexico.

Measuring both satisfaction and reliability in your vehicle choice may be a bit different than shown in the graph but it does give you a good idea of what consumers are thinking. Good luck with your next purchase. There are certainly many to choose from.
